Community Agency Recruiting Vulnerable Newcomers

JobStart, a nonprofit community agency in Etobicoke, is currently recruiting newcomers with limited or no knowledge about settlement/community services for a focus group discussion about their knowledge of settlement services and why traditional outreach strategies have not been effective for them. All focus group participants will receive a $15 honorarium and TTC tokens, in addition to being reimbursed for childcare arrangements.

Some of the newcomers from the focus group will continue with the project as members of a group that will receive (paid) training and will work collaboratively with partner organizations to develop and implement innovative strategies to reach other vulnerable newcomers.

For more information, or to register, please contact Alina Valachi at (416) 231-2295 ext 6224 or by e-mail at a.valachi@jobstart.org

Hello everyone! The Rekai Centres Long Term Care Homes has embarked on an inclusivity journey, and as such is considering the possible creation of a dedicated 25 bed unit for the LGBTQ2SI+ Community. They are in the research phase of this project and are conducting a survey to collect input that will inform and guide their next steps. Please take 5 minutes to complete this survey! It is an exciting opportunity to help set the standard for LGBTQ2SI+ spaces and services in healthcare, which is especially relevant as the population is seeing an increase in aging. Every voice matters! Thank you!
